Raya's Adventure

“Welcome to the Golden Crest, traveler!” An older guy dressed in a red suit with a golden pin greeted Raya. He had dark hair and chestnut colored skin.

“Inside of that room is a mystery obstacle course. Once you pass it, you will need this.” The older guy opens a black leather box in front of Raya and takes out a silver key. “This is the key to the treasure chest. And this is the only one that you'll get, so don't lose it.” He says, handing Raya the silver key.

Suddenly, a large door that could fit three cars side by side opened, leading to a pitch black room. “The course is on the left. Good luck.” The man said before disappearing with a purple mist circling where he once stood. There have been many rumors about teleporting magic in the Golden Crest, so Raya wasn't too surprised.

The grand doors started to shut, causing Raya to sprint inside. Raya hurried to the left as the older man instructed, meeting a hole in the wall where a door should be.

Raya entered the room, shocked when she saw the red glowing beams bouncing from the walls. The lights contorted in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines that seem impossible to walk through.

Raya takes off her left boot, extending her hand back before she throws it through the beaming rays. Immediately, flames suffocate Raya’s boot, slowly turning it into a pile of ash and dust. Raya gasps in surprise as she watches her boot deteriorate, coming to the realization that the mysterious red beams are actually lasers.

Raya peeps her head around, looking for any other way through. But she understands that going through the lasers is the only way to the treasure chest. Raya steps toward the first laser, ducking under the glowing beam, careful so her hair doesn't ignite. Another laser comes directly after the first, not giving Raya any sort of break.

Raya dives over the laser, falling onto the cold and hard ground below. The last and final laser appears before her. This one seems to be the most difficult as it twists in odd ways and shapes.

Raya picks herself up, wincing in pain from when she previously met the ground. As Raya gets up, she puts a leg above the laser, keeping her arms strictly tucked by her side. Raya suddenly loses her balance, wobbling with one leg still up. Raya takes a deep breath before continuing- she uses her grounded leg to push herself up and over the laser.

“Congratulations, Raya! You’ve made it through the laser obstacle course,” An older woman announces from an intercom. Raya is startled as she hears the booming voice coming from who knows where.

Raya stands up, walking toward the beautiful golden and ruby chest.

“As you see, the treasure chest is in front of you! Aannddd all you need is the key that was handed to you before you entered the laser room.” Raya stares at the gold and ruby chest before her, looking in awe before the color drains from her face.

“Oh no,” Raya exhales. She left the key at the first laser.
